Resources

Here are highly recommended blogging and business start-up resources. I will add more lists as if I find more in the future.
BLOG PLATFORMS
WORDPRESS
This is the most popular blog platform. It is easy to use and has loads of  top-notch themes that you can easily tweak, no need for coding experience, it is very user friendly. It's free to sign-up and you pay for additional upgrade if you want to redirect to your own domain name, have it hosted or buy premium themes.

BLOGGER
This is what I use in most of my blogs and website. It's also free and I take advantage of the perks that is linked to Google apps. Yes, it's not as good with themes as you need to twerk it with codes but I'm already used to it.  The best thing is I only pay my domain name to maintain a blog.

TUMBLR
Owned by Yahoo, it's more of a sharing platform.  You can reblog someone elses work and has GIF's.

DOMAIN NAME
This is the most popular one and cost for as low as 10US$ per year.

HOSTING
WEB SYNTHESIS
There are many hosting services available for bloggers. On my blogs I use Web Synthesis for hosting. However my blogs have a lot of traffic and this service would probably be overkill for many blogs.

The following offer solid packages for smaller blogs and have simple options that will get you a domain and a WordPress.org blog set up in just a few clicks.

BLUE HOST
Tumblr platform supports this hosting.

INMOTION
There's a lot of services offered here.

LIBSYN
Libsyn is the hosting I use for my Podcast

BLOG DESIGN / THEMES
There are tens of thousands of blog themes available for WordPress blogs. My only word of advice is to choose one that is updated regularly for holes in security as you do not want to get your blog hacked with a poorly designed template. Here are two providers I’ve worked with in the past that you can trust.

ENVATO THEMES
Secure and gorgeous designed themes

STUDIO PRESS
secure, beautifully designed, responsive themes

THESIS

Note: if you’re struggling to get your blog set up on WordPress, need help installing plugins or want to get your design just right but are feeling a bit out of your league with the technology – talk to the team at WPCurve who offer some great services on this front.
